During the festivities for Quebec’s national holiday in summer 2021, downtown Montreal was brought to life with a colourful experiential route consisting of four monumental installations, which took a participatory and playful approach to the Quebec celebration. By playing on the juxtaposition of classic aspects of Quebec culture and elements of popular culture, the Défilé inversé sought to move, provoke reflection, instill pride and inspire a sense of wonder among Quebecers.
At once immersive, sensory and technological, each of the four installations developed by MATIÈRS examined with openness, humour and sensitivity a theme that has a particular resonance in Quebec: language, imagination, creativity and unity.
